For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. (1 Peter 3:18)
People often share cookies with their neighbors and friends so why not add a postcard intended to share what you believe in a simple way. I couldn't find a commercial Christmas card that said what I wanted to say so I created one that's a little more direct than the usual trite, overused phrase, "Jesus is the reason for the season." I finally gave up and went where I should have gone in the first place, the Bible. God will speak for us. Here's what I came up with. Feel free to copy them or create one of your own!
Yes! I like it. I think we might use this to extend an invitation to an open house at our house. We'll call it our December Neighbors Breakfast Open House. It will all be about Neighbors Being Neighborly. Most people on our street don't know each other. We'll take these occasions to become more neighborly. In time, getting to know our neighbors, we'll be inviting willing participants to come into our home for Storying Bible Time, where participants learn selected stories by heart, wrestle with God's Word, and be blessed by the Spirit to consider becoming/growing as Christians. Thank you for the great starter idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark! We need to start being more visible and open about our faith in our own neighborhoods!
